DELIRIUM Post-COVID Pandemic

It is our pleasure to announce that the 2022 edition of the European Delirium Association (EDA) annual meeting is available at this website on demand until 30th August 2023.

Delirium still affects 1 out of 5 hospitalised patients and, therefore, represents a significant priority not only for the patients, who are affected, but also for hospitals, long-term care settings and all areas of the health systems. This conference is meant to increase the awareness and biological understanding of this very prevalent syndrome.

Since its first edition, the EDA annual meeting has progressively become a crucial event for all researchers and healthcare professionals interested in delirium. The EDA meeting covers several aspects related to delirium: from delirium and the legacy of the COVID-19 pandemic, to  delirium pathophysiology,  pediatric diagnosis and management of delirium, risk factors for post-surgical deliriummultimodal pre-habilitation to prevent delirium, and the diagnosis of delirium across various settings of care (emergency department, acute surgical and medical wards, rehabilitation, palliative care and hospice, nursing home and long-term care). A dedicated session features the management of pain, sleep, and sedation in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), the use of virtual reality to cope with post-ICU delirium problems, and the optimisation of the ICU environment to prevent delirium. Another session of the meeting specifically covers the use of artificial intelligence to help delirium researchers and clinicians in their everyday activity.
